So on May 1, 1970 Richard Nixon decides to invade Cambodia and the operations last until July 22 of that same year. So why was this such a big deal? The Kent State Riots were a direct result of this but what was the actual anger about?
Richard Nixon was elected to end the war. When he was Vice President under Eisenhower they had a very similar situation by having to end the Korean War. Eisenhower did this with in six months although we still have troops there today. The thought was that Nixon would just duplicate the formula but this was not possible as Korea is a penisula and Vietnam is not.
So this I will examine more in the future as well.
